HDL drivers have an average of 10 years of experience and remain HDL employees for an average of 7 years.
HDL hires only one in forty drivers that we interview; most drivers do not meet our hiring criteria.
HDL hiring criteria:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, verified CDLA experience
- References that support HDL standards for driving ability, work ethic, safety and attitude
- No accidents, DUI’s or suspensions in the last five years, no multiple DUI’s ever
- USIS Transportation Employment History
- MVR’s for all state in which the driver has been licensed
- Nationwide criminal history check
Pre-hire DOT requirements:
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Physically qualified in accordance with Sec 391.41
- Has a valid CDLA issued by his/her state of residence
- Has provided a list of violations as required by Sec 391.27
- Proof of citizenship or legal residence
- Proof of Entry Level Driver Training if licensed after July 20, 2004
- DOT required three years of previous employment verification, including detailed accident and drug / alcohol history
- Pre-employment drug test
Post-hire compliance:
- Annual MVR
- Annual Violation list
- Random drug and alcohol testing
- Daily verification of all document expiration dates and notification of upcoming renewals
